Motorhome Guides- Operating the Electricity Panel

Operating the Electrical Panel

The Electrical Panel shows the controls for the electrics - as well as your water pump levels - which is another essential aspect of operating your Motorhome.

Locate and operate the switches and metres in the Electrical Panel as per the guide here. Important for switching on power, lights, TV, the water pump and sockets and how to check the mains are connected and live and also essential battery levels.

When the mains cable is plugged in to the outside of your Motorhome - the bottom right 230v light should be indicated as green.

Locate the Electrical Panel

The Panel is located next to the habitation door on the inside of your motorhome. On the panel are a number of metres and switches to show you the status of battery and water levels.

3 berth variation

If you have a 3 berth Motorhome, the Control Panel is located above the habitation door. It operates in exactly the same way.

Switch on the 12v electrics

These are operated by the leisure battery if you are not plugged into the mains. Press the button on the top right as indicated below and the green light should illuminate:

Switch on the Lighting Circuit and TV

Press the button on the bottom as shown below and the lighting and TV can now be switched on.

The Fresh Water Pump

Your Motorhome has a fresh water pump which needs to be switched on as required. To do so, please press the button on the bottom right as shown hre:

The Electrical Sockets

When you plus a mains cable in outside (follow this guide for How to Connect the Electrical Cable) the 230v light should be indicated green in the position indicated here:

When this light is green - the Motorhome sockets are now live. You cannot use he electrical sockets unless you have mains supply power.

Battery Status

The Motorhome is equipped with two batteries - one for the engine and one for leisure - so you don't need to worry about using up all the battery power at your leisure! Provided the engine is not on you should not run down engine battery power. You are able to check the levels of both batteries in the Electrical Panel. If your battery runs low - mains power or driving the vehicle will charge both batteries.

At the top left is the battery status light - this enables you to check both the leisure and engine battery levels by pushing the button as indicated here:

Firstly, it will show you the status of the leisure battery.

After ten seconds - it will go off and then show you the status of the engine battery as shown here:

If the middle left button lights up red - the position of which is shown in the picture below - leisure battery power is low so you must connect to mains power via a cable, as instructed in our Electrical Connection Guide, to recharge the leisure battery - driving the motorhome does also recharge the leisure battery as well as the engine battery.ll charge both batteries.

Water Levels

You can check both fresh and waste water levels by activating the switch middle left shown here:

Firstly you will get an indication of the fresh water tank levels:

After ten seconds, the gauge will go down and then show the levels of the waste water tank as shown here:

Warning lights

The middle panel shows warning lights - which should draw your attention to actions required - such as low battery or a high level of water in the waste tank or low level in the fresh water tank.
