The Children’s areas

  • Upper Kid’s Garden – aimed at little ones

  • BigTopMania presents a chance to learn circus skills and crafts. In 2014, kids could have a go at tightrope walking, trapeze, plate spinning and much more! There were hundreds of hula hoops, crazy bikes and giant bubbles too.

  • Bouncy Castle

  • Breastival Mother and Baby Chill Out – where mothers can breastfeed in comfort and relax with their baby

  • Watch spectacular circus performances in the Greatest Tent on Earth!

  • Lower Kid’s Garden - aimed at older kids

  • Insect Circus – the Grand Tour. A stunning collection of circus acts performed by a troupe of talented ‘insects’.

  • Art Town – cover the kids in glitter, sculpt with cardboard (using leftover boxes from the traders!), make head dresses, knit and much more…

  • Kids Catwalk – with loads of dressing up clothes

  • Fairground rides, facepainting

  • Soft play and Sandpit tent for under 5s

Throughout the kid’s area you could find plenty of adult-friendly tents – bars, music stages and excellent food markets.

Children’s fun is thoroughly integrated through the rest of the festival too – there are plenty of areas where families can enjoy activities together. Take a look at a few of these other attractions:

Big Fish Little Fish

Hosting a party like no other, this is aimed at the post-rave generation who now have their own kids…and want a unique afternoon of fun. They normally run parties in London, but brought their party vibe to Camp Bestival.

Their parties feature quality DJs playing classic club tunes, visuals, lighting, balloons and glowsticks. They provide plenty of activities for tinies including a chill-out area and crafts.

Project Wild Thing in the Dingly Dell

Designed to help parents and children reconnect with nature and detox from the screen-orientated, indoors world so many people inhabit nowadays. They offered listening spots in the woods, animal mask making, nature trails, workshops and singing.

The organisers hope to bring people closer to their roots and encourage them to take this new connection back home with them after the festival.

The Den

This area is aimed at 13-17 year olds, and was curated by a team of teenage festival producers to give the best selection of acts around. They presented an eclectic mix of performances from folk to live drum and bass, as well as talks from popular authors and open mic performances.

The Music

Family Favourites:

The Cat in the Hat Live

Dick and Dom Go Wild in the Ring

Previous acts at Camp Bestival have included The Levellers, The Happy Mondays, Primal Scream and Blondie. In 2014 the festival was headlined by Basement Jaxx, De La Soul and James.

Camp Bestival aims to create a diverse musical programme, with artists from far reaching corners of the scene. They classically mix big name headliners with up and coming bands, folk and world music for an upbeat party vibe.

Talks, Authors and Poets

A packed rota of spoken performances took place in 2014, giving audiences a chance to learn new things and stretch their minds:

  • Beat the Banks with Brett Scott

  • How to have a natural birth with Caroline Flint (the UK’s most famous midwife)

  • How to be a Polar Bear dentist with Michaela Strachan

  • Live Well for Life with Duncan Williamson – the WWF Sustainable diet

  • And much more!

There’s no better way to enjoy a family festival than with your own motorhome. No need to carry heavy bags from the car, and your own kitchen, shower and toilet – imagine how relaxing that would be! Children and adults can get the best night possible with comfortable beds, and solid walls that keep out much of the festival hubbub.

The Camp Bestival pitches are 9m x 6m, allowing space for the vehicle, any awning you may want and even friends’ tents if you wish. Purchase a separate campervan ticket in advance to secure your place.

2015 Theme

The 2015 theme for the festival is Camp Bestival Goes Wild. In the words of Rob Da Bank himself:

“Calling all wild boys and wild girls…oh yes my wild friends and family, prepare to get down and dirty at Camp Bestival 2015 as we dump the technology and scramble into the woods for a back to nature escape from normality. We’ll have golden chances to bond with your kids in the mud kitchen, sleep under the stars with your mates and family, and take part in tons of wild activities. Release your inner wild thing and see you in July!”

So if this sounds like the sort of break your family needs – book online today to secure a luxurious motorhome and camp in style!

If you fancy making a holiday of it, check out some of the local attractions here. Dorset is picture-postcard beautiful and full of destinations to interest all the family:

Stunning coastline and a pebble beach where you might be lucky enough to find a fossil. It is a naturally horseshoe-shaped bay formed through the force of the sea. Nearby you can see the famous Durdle Door – a mysterious arch in the sea, formed of limestone.

Monkey World, Wareham

Here you can meet plenty of monkeys and learn more about their lives and natural habitats. There is also a soft play area and a pets encounter space.

Corfe Castle Model Village, Purbeck

The model village is a perfect, tiny representation of what the Corfe Castle village would have looked like before it was destroyed in 1646 by Cromwell’s troops. There are a number of attractions including: giant games for all the family, and enchanted fairy garden, fossil corner, croquet lawn and even stocks for punishing any unruly children!
