Bristol - Camping & Motorhome Guide

Bristol

Historically, Bristol is known as the ‘Birthplace of America’. In 1497, John Cabot set sail west and discovered America, and Richard Ameryck (the Sheriff of Bristol) funded his trip. Some believe this is the root of the name America. In modern times, Bristol is well known for its vibrant cultural scene – with many streets adorned with graffiti art from famous names such as Banksy.

Well-known people from Bristol include JK Rowling, Damien Hirst, Banksy and WG Grace.
